Raja Kaluve survey completed: DC

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, speaking to SOM here this morning, said that the box drain near Manandavadi Road – H.D. Kote Road was at a 90 degree angle and it had to be straightened. “The technical bid was completed and the financial bid was opened yesterday. The drain will be straightened shortly. MUDA will take up the Rs. one crore work and complete it in six months,” he said.

The survey work on the 11-km Raja Kaluve that runs in several parts of the city has been completed. There is a lot of encroachment and once the survey report comes out we will inspect the spots next week, he added.

“We will remove all encroachments on the Kaluves as this is the only way to control floods. The places where it has been encroached includes Yelethota, Bogadi and on a few private layouts. Action will be taken against all those who have encroached,” said Randeep.

One of the Raja Kaluves encroached is near the Apollo BGS Hospital on Adichunchanagiri Road. A service road was constructed adjoining the Raja Kaluve on the East side of Apollo Hospital, which is allegedly encroached by constructing a building illegally. As a result, the Hospital entrance was flooded with rain water last night, which resulted in inconveniencing the patients and the public.
