Rajiv Jyothi Yatra vehicle arrives in Mysuru, to enter Tamil Nadu on May 21

Mysore/Mysuru: Marking the 32nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rajiv Jyothi Yatra that is currently passing through Karnataka, will enter Tamil Nadu on May 21.

Speaking after receiving the Rajiv Jyothi Yatra near Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple at the Palace North Gate here yesterday, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar said former PM Rajiv Gandhi laid down his life for the cause of the country.

Pointing out that Rajiv Gandhi became a victim of a suicide bomber on May 21, 1991, he said Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary is being observed as Anti-Terrorism Day. The Day is observed to generate awareness in the country among all sections of people, about the danger of terrorism and violence and its effect on the people, society and the country as a whole.

Noting that Rajiv Gandhi had made enormous contributions to the country which the countrymen won’t forget, he said  now that the Congress has returned to power in Karnataka, Rajiv Gandhi’s dreams would be realised by the Congress Government.

City Congress President R.Murthy too spoke on the occasion. Congress leaders Shivanna, Bhaskar Gowda, Nagesh, Eshwar Chakkadi, former Mayor B.K. Prakash, former University of Mysore Syndicate member Gopinath, former Corporator Ashok Kumar and others were present.
