Mysuru: Vocalist Vidushi A. Rajamma Keshavamurthy of Chikkamagalur has been selected for this year’s ‘Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan’ Award which will be conferred on her by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah this evening at 6pm at the inaugural ceremony of Dasara cultural programmes at Mysore Palace premises.
Rajamma is the daughter of Lakshmikanthaiah and Gundamma of Ambale in Chikkamagalur district. Interested in music right from the childhood, Rajamma was trained under music exponents Ramachandra Rao, Dr. R.K. Narayanaswamy and Dr. R.K. Srikantan.
Married to G.M. Keshavamurthy, Rajamma is a high school teacher and had served as Chairperson of Karnataka Sangeetha Examination Board Evaluation Committee. A Rajyotsava awardee (1991) and an A-grade artiste of Akashavani and Doordarshan, she has also won several awards from Karnataka Sangeetha Nruthya Academy.
