Rally marks Malaria Day

Mysuru: Marking the World Malaria Day, an awareness rally was organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in city this morning.

About 50 Health Assistants participated in the rally carrying placards with messages of advice to prevent Malaria.

The rally was flagged off by Dr. P. Ravi, Taluk Health Officer, at the premises of the DHO’s office in Nazarbad. It passed through SP Office Circle and Theobald Road before returning to the starting point.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravi said that heeding to the instructions of World Health Organisation to completely eradicate Malaria by 2020, the Union Government had taken all steps to prevent the spread of Malaria. He added that Primary Health Centres have been instructed to be aware of the Mission and Health Assistants have been visiting houses in rural areas to monitor the health conditions of household members.

Health Supervisor P. Shivaram, Health Education Officer Prakash, Taluk Nodal Officer Siraj Ahmed and others were present.
