Rally marks Population Day

Mysuru:  Population control is a major issue concerning the country and it is very important to restrict the size of the family. Gone are the days when two children per family was accepted norm. With the population explosion, the time has come to limit it to just one child per family, said Deputy Mayor Indira Mahesh.

She was speaking after inaugurating the World Population Day-2018 celebrations with the theme “Family planning is a human right” at Vaidyara Bhavan (Doctors Bhavan) in Nazarbad here this morning. She said that the income of the families have to match with the numbers as otherwise it will become very difficult to maintain families.

Earlier, former Corporator Kushal Kumar inaugurated an awareness rally at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Nazarbad. The rally was jointly organised by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Indian Medical Association, RLHP (Rural Literacy and Health Programme) and ODP (Organisation for Development of People).

The rally, which began from the PHC, passed through Mini Vidhana Soudha and reached Doctors Bhavan. Nurses, members of RLHP, ODP, Nursing College students, IMA Doctors & school children participated in the rally.  

DHO Dr. B. Basavaraju, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Siraj Ahmed, District Surgeon Dr. M. Pashupathi, MMC&RI Director and Dean Dr. C.P. Nanjaraju, IMA Mysore Chapter President Dr. N.S. Vishweshwara, ODP Director Saraswathi, Member Yamuna and others participated in the rally.
