Mysuru: As part of the Nation-wide campaign on preservation of rivers launched by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Lions Club of Mysore West had organised a ‘Rally for Rivers’ in city yesterday which received a good response.
Hundreds of students and volunteers took out the rally from Maharani’s College on JLB Road passing through Devaraj Urs Road, Sayyaji Rao Road, Irwin Road, Vinoba Road and through other parts of city holding placards seeking support for the campaign to save rivers of country. The rallyists pointed out that the rivers had nurtured the biosphere for decades and which should be protected.
Students of JSS Women’s College formed a human chain extending their support to the campaign. Members of Lions Club International assembled near Kuvempu Statue on Vishwamanava Double Road in Kuvempunagar here and cheered the rallyists.
Lions Governor V. Diwakar, Dy. Governor Nagaraj V. Beri, District Convenor N. Jayaram and others were present.
