Mysuru: Asking the specially abled persons not to lose interest in life just because they suffer from some sort of physical disability, MLA S.A. Ramdas has exhorted the specially abled to lead a determined life. He was speaking after distributing free prosthetic equipment to the beneficiaries at a programme organised at Shri Sthanakvasi Jain Sangh Hall at Halladakeri (Mahaveer Nagar) here yesterday.
Noting that while physical disabilities occurring from major accidents or mishaps cannot be prevented most of the times, Ramdas said that, however, physical disabilities that arises from diseases such as diabetes can be prevented if one is alert.
Pointing out that Arunima Sinha, a physically challenged, rose to fame by climbing Himalayas, he said that such courageous women should be an inspiration for all of us.
Stating that Arunima Sinha lost her leg when she was pushed out of a train by robbers for refusing to part with her jewels, Ramdas said that Arunima led a life of determination after that outrageous incident.
More than 350 persons with different disabilities from across the district were distributed prosthetic equipment.
Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jaipur Foot), Raichur’s Rajmal Khemaj Bhandari Foundation’s (RKB Foundation) and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) had jointly sponsored this programme under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.
Ramanahalli’s Sri Basavalinga Murthy Sharana Swamiji graced the occasion.
MLA L. Nagendra, RKB Foundation President Soubhag Raj Bhandari, Sumati Nath Jain Shwetambar Moorthi Poojak Sangh President Ashokji Dantewadia, Raichur’s M.K. Bhandari Hospital Administrative Officer Dr. Mohammad Riyazuddin and others were present.
