Ramya, Prakash Rai fail to cast votes

Bengaluru: Actor and Congress media social cell Chief Ramya (Divya Spandana), who campaigned vigorously influencing people to vote and actor Prakash Rai, who through his new movement “Just Asking” has become a controversial figure, have both been mercilessly trolled on the social media by the netizens.

The reason for the outrage on the social media is both the actors — Ramya and Prakash Rai — have not exercised their franchise. Ramya had to vote at the PLD Bank booth on K.R. Road in Mandya. But she failed to turn up. Similarly, Prakash Rai also did not bother to vote. Both of them have been taken to task through tweets by the angry public. “What moral right have those two to talk about politics when they do not vote?” is the tweet doing the rounds and they have been ridiculed as “Number one citizen.”

The outpouring of anger on the tweets said that Ramya and Prakash Rai, who spoke so vehemently against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have forgotten their responsibility.

A few others have tweeted, “Ramya has not voted, ask her to go to Pakistan” while another to Ramya read, “First be responsible and learn to vote.”

Targeting actor Prakash Rai, who had become a centre of controversy, starting the movement “Just Asking” after the killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh, has not exercised his franchise, leading people to question his honesty and integrity through tweets. Apart from Ramya and Prakash Rai there are a few more celebrities including actor Sumalatha, wife of former Minister and actor Ambarish, who did not vote. However, Ambarish did cast his vote in Mandya.

Hence a #NotVoted hashtag has gone viral against those actors who have not voted.
