Ramzan Holy Month and fasting begins from today

Mysore/Mysuru: Following the sighting of the Moon yesterday, the Ramzan Holy Month and fasting began today.

The Mysore District Moon Committee had held a meeting at the office of the Mysore District Wakf Advisory Committee on Sayyaji Rao Road yesterday at 7 pm which was presided by Sir Khazi of Mysuru Hazrath Moulana Mohamed Usman Shariff.

During the meeting, information regarding sighting of Moon was gathered from different parts of Mysuru district and since the Moon was sighted at all places including Mysuru city, the Sir Khazi contacted the Central Moon Committee in Bengaluru and declared the sighting of the Moon and beginning of Ramzan Holy Month and fasting from Tuesday (Mar. 12).

Later, Moulana Mohamed Zaka Ulla read the resolution passed in the meeting and greeted Muslim brethren of city.

Chairman of Mysore District Wakf Advisory Committee Ghayaz Ahmed Akram, Moulana Mufthi Syed Tajuddin, Moulana Ibrahim, Moulana Syed Sha Vali Ulla, Former Corporator Suhail Baig, social workers Mohammed Mumtaz Ahmed, Jameel Ahmed Ashrafi, Mirza  Jamsheed Baig Ashrafi, Majeed Khan, S.K. Mudassir, Muslim Co. Operative Bank Ltd. former Director Mohammed Abdus Salam, Wakf Officer Mushtaq Ahmed and others were present at the meeting.
