Ranji Trophy: Hosts Karnataka, Goa head for a draw

Helped by opening batter Suyash Prabhudessai’s 72 not out (179 balls), Goa managed to score 160 runs for 3 in 60 overs at Lunch on the last day in the ongoing four-day Elite C Group Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium in Manasagangothri campus here this morning. 

Continuing their overnight score of 93/1, Goa were still trailing by 17 runs at lunch, chasing Karnataka’s first innings lead of 177 runs with Prabudessai and Deepraj Gaonkar still at the crease batting on 72 not out and 18 not out respectively.

For Karnataka, Vyshak Vijaykumar provided the breakthrough in 28th over sending well-settled K.V. Siddharth (57) back to pavilion with Goa adding just one run to their overnight score. Snehal Kauthankar (8), who walked in at No. 4, could not add much to the scoreboard as he was caught right in front of wicket by pacer M. Venkatesh restricting the visitors to 125 for 3. Goa was still trailing by 13 runs at 164 for 3 in 61.2 overs at the time when we to the Press.
