Rashmika Mandanna is National Brand Ambassador to promote cyber safety

October 19, 2024

New Delhi: Actor Rashmika Mandanna has taken on a new role as the National Brand Ambassador for the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), part of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

This appointment comes after Rashmika Mandanna herself became a victim of cybercrime earlier this year when a deepfake video of her was circulated online. Her personal experience highlights the urgency of addressing cybercrime and underscores her commitment to promoting online safety.

“Let’s unite to build a safer cyberspace for ourselves and future generations,” she wrote on Instagram, announcing her new role. “I want to bring awareness and protect as many of you as possible from cybercrimes as I take on the role of brand ambassador for I4C. Let me and the Government of India help you.”

Rashmika Mandanna, who has a huge following on social media, hopes to use her influence to spread awareness about staying safe online. She shared that her own experience with a deep fake video made her want to stand up against cybercrime, and now, with government support, she plans to make a difference.

The Ministry’s cyber safety handle, Cyber Dost, welcomed her appointment, saying they’re ready to tackle cyber threats together. The I4C, which coordinates responses to cybercrime across India, sees Rashmika Mandanna’s involvement as a way to reach more people and help protect them from                           online threats.
