RBI Dy. Governor to deliver 23rd Convocation address at SDM-IMD on Mar. 24

Mysuru:  The 23rd Annual Convocation of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development  (SDM-IMD) will take place on Mar.24 at the Institute Campus situated on Chamundi Hill Road, Siddarthanagar, Mysuru, at 4 pm.

N.S. Vishwanathan, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), will be the chief guest and will be delivering the Convocation address. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, SDM-IMD, will preside.

The Institute will be awarding Post Graduate Diploma in Management to the eligible students of 2016-18 batch. Students who have excelled in the areas of Specialization and the Overall Performance will be receiving the Gold Medals from the chief guest.

Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director of the Institute, will be presenting the Annual Report of the Institute in the academic year 2017-18. The Governing and Advisory Board Members of the Institute will be present on the occasion.

Profile: N. S. Vishwanathan took over as the Deputy Governor of RBI on July 4, 2016 for a period of three years. He was the Executive Director of the Reserve Bank before being elevated to the post of Deputy Governor.

As Dy. Governor, Vishwanathan looks after the Department of Banking Regulation (DBR), Department of Co-operative Banking Regulation (DCBR), Department of Non-Banking Regulation (DNBR), Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC), Financial Stability Unit (FSU), Inspection Department, Risk Monitoring Department (RMD) and Secretary’s Department.

Vishwanathan, a career central banker, joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1981. His areas of expertise include regulation and supervision of banks, non-banking finance companies and cooperative banks, currency management, foreign exchange and human resources management.

He was on a three-year deputation to the Bank of Mauritius, the central bank of Mauritius, as Director, Supervision. He has also been the head of Chennai Regional office of the Reserve Bank. He was also the Chief Vigilance Officer and Head of Internal Audit, IFCI.  Born on June 27, 1958, Vishwanathan holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Bangalore University.
