Reading of ‘Satyavanne Heluttene’ held in city

Directed by former Rangayana Director Addanda Cariappa

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Satyavanne Heluttene’ (I will speak only the truth), the Kannada play written and directed by former Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa is all set be staged from September, later this year. As a preparatory exercise, the reading of the new play was taken up under the programme ‘Charitreya Utkhanana’ with the title ‘Hosa Nataka Kelalu Banni’ at a hotel on JLB Road, here yesterday.

Addanda C. Cariappa read out the play much to the delight of the audience who appreciated the play written by the director.

Addressing the gathering Cariappa said that, it was not common to invite people to be a part of reading the play. “However, we have been organising similar events for the past two years since the staging of the play ‘Karineera Veera’. Such events help in obtaining feedback from the audience before staging the play,” he added.

Stating that the play ‘Satyavanne Heluttene’ would unearth few of the hidden truths, Cariappa said that he was using the title which was commonly used in the Courts of Law.

The play will feature characters of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhas Chandra Bose, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Veer Savarkar in the main leads.

“The play, apart from examining the authenticity of various topics being discussed in social media, has been authored after thoroughly researching about 42 books. There are relevant proofs for the conversations of the play”, said Cariappa, who added that he had purposefully added the word ‘Utkhanana’ (excavation) as the play was result of deep research. It has a total of 12 scenes and the process of selecting artistes will be held in August and staging of the play from September, after a month-long training.
