A realtor, believing his friend, invested his hard earned money into online trading and lost Rs. 20.31 lakh.
The realtor, who lost his money, is Rajan (name changed), a resident of SVP (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel) Nagar in city.
In his complaint, Rajan has stated that in 2025, he came across a second-hand car dealer, who later became his friend as days went by.
The friend, who came to know that Rajan had debts, took advantage of it and had suggested Rajan to invest in online trading so that he could help him get huge profit and clear his debts following which Rajan agreed to invest money.
On Jan. 1, Rajan transferred Rs. 11,000 to the bank account as told by his friend. When Rajan asked his friend when he would get the profit, his friend told him to invest continuously so that he could give him huge profit. Believing his friend, Rajan invested a total of Rs. 20.31 lakh till Mar. 31.
As Rajan did not receive any profit, he called his friend over the phone on May 5 and informed him about not receiving any profit to which his friend told him that he would not give any profit and threatened him.
Realising that he has been cheated, Rajan called Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930 and lodged a complaint.
