Red Cross holds camp for women

Mysuru: Youth Red Cross had organised a State-level initiative camp for its women volunteers at Nataraja Women’s Residential First Grade College here recently.  Inaugurating the programme, Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka Chairman Basarur Rajiv Shetty opined that peace and prosperity across the world was possible only if all the people are healthy. He said that women need due recognition and opportunity in society.

He further said that the camp would educate the women participants on first aid and importance of blood donation. He added that people should get familiar with generic medical stores.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath said that blood should be donated without any gender bias. She asked women to improve confidence to become achievers.

Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mysuru Chairman Dr. K.B. Gurumurthy presided, State Co-ordinator M.A. Shakib, Nataraja Prathishtana President Sri Chidananda Swamiji, IRCS Mysuru Branch Secretary Dr. M.S. Jayanth, Vice-Chairman M. Mahadevappa and Vice-Principal G. Prasad Murthy were present.
