Sir,
The train journey from Bengaluru to Mysuru takes about two-hours-and-forty-five minutes to three hours whether it is a Passenger, Express or Superfast one. Even the introduction of double track or electrification will not help to reduce the journey time because of platform problems in Mysuru City Junction.
All the trains are parked at outer (that is, near Sankalp Apartments in Yadavagiri) for nearly 20 to 45 minutes. Tipu Express will come to above said outer within 2 hours 10 minutes but parked at outer for more than 30 minutes for platform problems. At this place some people try to get down from trains and risk their lives. This is a genuine problem of Railways and passengers.
Let all the trains be parked for some required time at outer for the convenience of Railways. I would like to suggest the Railways to provide some ambiance at the outer, that is alighting platform, auto stand and flyover so by that many passengers (nearly 50 to 80 percent) can alight at this place and reduce their journey time safely. Then only the real benefits of double tracks and electrification of the tracks can be obtained.

What about some train’s starting point to be from Nanjangud ?
And just 10 mins stop in Mysore station for passengers to board ?
They can also shift destinations to Chamarajapuram and ashokpuram stations in mysore. This makes more options about availability of more platforms.
I completely agree, it is waste of time waiting for Mysore station platform to be empty. More destination helps more people to get trains, also Mysore platforms can be organized.
People forget that the population of Mysore and Bangalore have quadrupled since 1950s, with so many teeming thousands who want to travel. This congestion has to be factored into account while designing the rolling stocks, and has huge bearing on the smooth running of trains. No matter what permutations of stations one could put forward, I cannot see the the day when the travel time is cut below 2 hours, not on an average, but in every run. Realistically considering the European standards-the main travels in Europe are still using the trains, the distance between Mysore and Bangalore should be covered in about 1 hour. Reading the perennial hold ups at Kengeri and Binny Mills-they are really the throwback years of steam engine trains, one could safely assume that the status quo of not breaching the 2 hour threhold will be maintained for decades to come! This country is sinking by the weight of its owm massive population growth.
