Registration of labourers under Central Government eShram Scheme

Mysore/Mysuru: The Central Government with the intention of providing social security and welfare schemes for workers of unorganised sector has launched eShram portal and unorganised labourers like agricultural labourers, small and mini farmers, fishermen, tailors, bakery merchants,Gig labourers, mechanics, drivers, newspaper vendors, photographers, fruits and vegetable vendors included, 369 sectors are eligible to be registered under the Scheme.

The registered members  of unorganised sectors are eligible for Pradhana Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana benefit (for accidental death and complete disability will get Rs.2 lakh and for partial disability Rs.1 lakh). Those who are in the age limit of 16-59 years, not be paying Income Tax and non-members of EPFO and ESI members are eligible for registration under the eShram Scheme.

A total of 3,87,426 unorganised labourers have been registered and the district has the 3rd highest number in the State. Unorganised sector workers are directed to register their names during the eShram registration campaign being undertaken by the Labour Department soon and co-operate.
