Reinstall humps, medians on Bannimantap Main Road

Sir,

I wish to thank the PWD for completing the white-topping (cement concrete) road from LIC Circle to Manipal Hospital Junction and opening it for public use.

Earlier, two road humps had been provided on this stretch — one in front of the ATM near JSS Medical College and the other in front of the main gate of JSS College of Pharmacy.

These humps played an important role in regulating vehicle speeds and ensuring the safety of students of JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Life Sciences and other road users.

However, following the completion of the road works, these humps have been removed and vehicles are now speeding along this stretch, posing a potential threat to the safety of pedestrians and other commuters.

Further, the road medians at the turning near the corner of JSS Medical College, in front of ODP and near LIC Circle have also been removed. Their absence may increase the risk of accidents and disrupt the safe movement of traffic.

Now that the Dasara festivities have concluded successfully, I request the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to reinstate the road humps and medians in their earlier locations, in the larger interest of public safety and smooth traffic management.
