Reinstatement of PDO Hanumantharaju: Congress leader, Srirampura GP Members enter into wordy duel

Mysuru: Even as people from surrounding villages were waiting eagerly for the arrival of CM Siddharamaiah at Mysore Airport in Mandakalli, the airport witnessed a verbal clash between supporters of a Congress leader and members of Srirampura Gram Panchayat (GP), who had come to submit a memorandum to the CM seeking action against the GP PDO Hanumantharaju, who was allegedly involved in major irregularities.

Hanumantharaju was recently transferred on charges of irregularities. But using his political clout, the PDO had returned to Srirampura GP much to the annoyance of GP members.

Srirampura GP members and two Mysuru TP members were waiting for the arrival of CM, when they saw Congress leader C.N. Manjegowda too waiting at the airport to greet the CM.

The GP members entered into a heated argument with Manjegowda, accusing him of being instrumental in reinstating PDO Hanumantharaju.

Even as the argument between the two groups entered its peak, the Police intervened and pacified the agitated Srirampura GP members, who were about 30 in number, it is learnt. The GP members were led by GP Vice-President Usha.

It may recalled here that  Srirampura GP members had staged a demonstration in front of the ZP Office here recently, demanding stern action against PDO Hanumantharaju for his alleged involvement in a number of irregularities.
