Release of River Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu: Cauvery Kriya Samithi members hold protest

Mysore/Mysuru: Members of Cauvery Kriya Samithi staged a protest in front of CADA office against the release of River Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, here yesterday.

The protesters tried to lay a siege on the CADA office when the Police foiled their attempt and took them into preventive custody before releasing them.

The protesters alleged that the State Government had failed to present the facts before the Court resulting in the release of water to Tamil Nadu.

Stating that the State Government had not acted to address the drought situation in catchment area, the protesters said that the State Government must work towards conserving water. “The Congress party which protested demanding for the implementation of Mekedatu project gaining political mileage is now silent without finding solution to the ongoing River  Cauvery issue.

Samithi Chief Convener Mooguru Nanjundaswamy, Mellahalli Mahadevaswamy, M.J. Suresh Gowda, Tejas Lokesh Gowda, Bogadi Siddegowda, Varakodu Krishnegowda and others were present.
