Mysore/Mysuru: MLC Marithibbegowda has urged Higher Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan to release the pending salary of lecturers of polytechnic and engineering in one instalment.
In a press release here, he said that the salary of part-time and guest lecturers working in the Government Polytechnic and Engineering Colleges had not been released since last two years. This was causing hardship for them. Three letters to the authorities concerned had not yielded results. The Government had not paid the salary of lecturers of 44 Polytechnics since June this year. One month salary of February had been held back. The pending salary of all lecturers must be released in one instalment, he said.
The MLC said Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) has issued a circular on Mar. 20 for the release of salary on 5th of every month failing which action will be initiated. However, this direction had been totally neglected by Higher Education Department officials. Taking serious note of this, the Minister must issue direction to release the salary dues of lecturers without further delay.
