This has reference to the harrowing experience by B.S. Shankara to renew his DL (SOM dated July 22). I too had a similar experience and hence wish to share with our readers.
The process of renewal of DL is still difficult to understand during these days of compute-risation. One has to stand in different queues for different purposes and for seniors, it sis still worst during these Covid-19 days.
Shankara has rightly suggested for simplifying the process of renewal instead of following age old practice. Once the application for renewal was uploaded with necessary renewal fees, time slot may be given to the applicant/DL holder for the process of recording new photograph, getting acknowledgement. (In my opinion, they can reduce personal visits for renewal).
If there is a will there is a way to solve such problems. Otherwise, the brokers in the business, who lure the visitors, quote their rates to simplify all these process listed by the RTO.
