Bengaluru: Renowned Space Scientist and former Indian Space Research Organisation Satellite Centre (ISAC) Director S.K. Shivakumar, who was also Karnataka Science and Technology Council Chairman, passed away here yesterday.
Padma Shree awardee Shivakumar was associated with the ISRO for over two decades and had contributed immensely to the planning and analysis of several Indian satellite missions, including Bhaskara, Apple, IRS and INSAT.
Shivakumar is a native of Mysuru and had also served as the Project Director for India’s first indigenous Deep Space Network Antenna at Byalalu, associated with the India’s first Moon Mission Chandrayan-I.
The last rites of the Departed scientist were held at the Banashankari crematorium in Bengaluru, the family sources said.
