Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court yesterday adjourned the hearing of actor Darshan’s bail application to Oct. 28. The bail plea hearing was headed by Justice Vishwajit Shetty, a Single-Judge Bench. The actor’s lawyer argued in Court that Darshan was suffering from severe back pain and had to undergo surgery.
B.V. Nagesh, the lawyer who argued for Darshan, appealed before the High Court that bail be granted to the actor on medical grounds since he was already undergoing treatment. Nagesh requested the Court that the bail be given as soon as possible as actor Darshan requires urgent surgery. However, the Judge directed the lawyer to submit the medical reports and scheduled the next hearing for Oct. 28. Darshan had recently moved the Karnataka High Court to secure bail after the Trial Court denied the same.
It may be recalled that Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, friend of Darshan, which enraged the actor, allegedly leading to his murder. His body was found near a stormwater drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli in Bengaluru on June 9.
On June 10, four accused — Karthik, Keshavamurthy, Nikhil Naik and Raghavendra — had surrendered at Kamakshipalya Police Station admitting to the murder of Renukaswamy.
Investigation had revealed that Renukaswamy was kidnapped and murdered for sending obscene photos and messages to Pavithra. The Police had arrested 17 persons, including Darshan and Pavithra Gowda in the case.
