September 24, 2024

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court yesterday granted bail to Keshavamurthy, one of the accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. High Court Bench of Justice Vishwajit Shetty granted the bail. Advocate Ranganath Reddy argued for Keshavamurthy.

Meanwhile, the Sessions Court granted bail to two others accused Nikhil Naik and Karthik in the case. Judge Jaishankar granted the bail. Karthik (A 15), Keshavamurthy (A 16) and Nikhil Naik (A 17) are lodged in Tumakuru prison.

On the other hand, the 57th Magistrate Court, Bengaluru, adjourned the hearing for the bail petition of actor Darshan Thoogudeepa till Sept. 27 and another accused Pavithra Gowda’s till Sept. 25.

Similarly, the Sessions Court has issued notice returnable on Sept. 27 on the bail applications filed by other accused persons Pavan alias Puttaswamy, N. Raghavendra, Anukumar alias Anu, R. Nagaraju  and M. Lakshman.

It may be recalled that Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda which enraged Darshan, allegedly leading to his murder. His body was found near a stormwater drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli here on June 9.

On June 10, four accused persons — Karthik, Keshavamurthy, Nikhil Naik and Raghavendra — had surrendered before the Kamakshipalya Police Station admitting to the murder of Renukaswamy.

Investigation had revealed that Renukaswamy was kidnapped and murdered for sending obscene photos and messages to Pavithra Gowda, who is actor Darshan’s friend. The Police had arrested 17 persons, including Darshan and Pavithra in the case.
