Gonikoppal: Miscreants have set fire to the house of Dr. Gowramma, a gynaecologist of repute at Gonikoppal in South Kodagu. Valuables including property documents have been destroyed in the fire.
The incident that occurred on the morning of Oct. 17 came to light yesterday when Dr. Gowramma who came home after visiting her daughter in Dubai. She returned to India on Oct. 17 and was staying with her another daughter’s house in Bengaluru.
Neighbours who had witnessed the fire on that day had informed the Police and the fire was doused by Fire Service Department. The extent of the damage was ascertained only when Dr. Gowramma came home and told the Police that property documents were destroyed.
Fire experts who came from Mangaluru have said that electric short circuit was not the reason for the fire and have suspected that some miscreants would have broken into the doctor’s house and would have set fire using some chemicals after robbing property documents.
Police said that miscreants would have entered the house through the back door. A case has been registered at Gonikoppal Police Station and samples of burnt objects have been sent to forensic laboratory for testing.
