Mysuru: The nine-year-old male tiger, which was severely injured in a territorial fight and rescued by the Forest staff at Hediyala Range and shifted to Koorgalli Rehabilitation Centre of Mysuru Zoo here on June 10, succumbed to its injuries early this morning.
The injuries were so severe that the tiger’s jaw was broken, there were blood clots in the brain, veins carrying blood to the brain damaged and there were severe injuries on its skull.
After the tiger was brought to Koorgalli Rehabilitation Centre, veterinarians had administered antibiotics and painkiller injections and were retrieving it back from the unconscious state as it was tranquilised before being captured by the Forest staff. Though the tiger regained conscious yesterday, it had not consumed anything and died this morning, it is learnt.
Zoo Veterinarian Dr. Suresh conducted post-mortem in the presence of Zoo Executive Director C. Ravishankar and others.
