Truckers to go on indefinite stir from June 18

Mysuru: Following a call given by Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners Association and All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners Association, the Mysuru District Truckers Association will launch an indefinite lorry strike from June 18 in protest against rising diesel prices and other issues concerning lorry owners.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here this morning, the Mysuru District Truckers Association President N. Srinivas Rao said that the lorry strike has been called to protest against increasing diesel prices, abnormal hike in third party insurance premium and exorbitant toll on Highways.

Pointing out that diesel prices are rising by the day which has badly hurt truck owners, Rao said the 11.7 per cent hike in third party insurance premium and high toll being collected on Highways, has heavily burdened the truck owners, who are already reeling under high prices of spare parts.

As such, the Association will launch an indefinite stir from June 18 with lorries keeping off the roads, he said. Association office-bearers Mahesh, Shreyas and Srikantaswamy were present at the press meet.
