Mysuru: Mysore Bank Colony Residents’ Cultural & Welfare Association conducted Swachhata Awareness programme in SBM Colony Block Numbers 21, 19, 33 and other nearby open sites. More than 10 garbage bags of waste were collected. 

Corporator Champaka, along with Health Inspector Basavaraju, Pourakarmikas and volunteers from SBM Colony took part in the programme and created awareness about cleanliness. 

Champaka said that there were a lot of complaints about dumping of garbage in plastic covers on roadside during nights but the residents were not able to identify or catch the culprits.

There are also complaints about wild growth in vacant sites and the fear of snakes lurking in these thick growth of vegetation. 

The Corporator felt that hence cleaning of vacant sites needs to be prioritised. However, she expressed her difficulty in clearing the vacant sites as the MCC is providing the JCB for just one day in a month to clear the sites of thick wild growth of vegetation. 

The cleanliness awareness programme is being conducted on 10th and 20th of every month in SBM Colony, said Arunkumar Shettar, President of the Association and requested the residents to actively participate.
