Residents complain of drainage space encroachment in Gokulam

Mysore/Mysuru: Gokulam residents have alleged that footpath has been encroached upon in front of EWS houses in Gokulam.

In a letter addressed to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner, Mandanna, a resident of Gokulam, complained that about 10 ft. of footpath space and drainage space in front of EWS houses on 7th main, Gokulam 3rd Stage, has been encroached upon with the erection of grills and compound wall.

Pointing out that the road is a busy one with vehicles plying in large numbers, Mandanna said that due to encroachment water gushes into the houses on the opposite side whenever there is heavy rain.

He noted that following a petition submitted to the  MCC  in this  regard, the then MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde had visited the spot and ordered the AE, AEE and the MCC Zonal Assistant Commissioner to open up the drainage, which has been covered due to encroachment. But  as nothing was done after that, several representations were made to the MCC in this regard, which  have proved futile.

As such, Mandanna and others, in their letter dated 13.8.2021 have requested the present MCC Commissioner to clear the footpath encroachment and thus make way for free pedestrian and vehicular movement on the road.
