Residents protest against unscientific works on Vinoba Road

Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging that unscientific works are being undertaken on Vinoba Road, residents and shopkeepers, led by former Corporator Prashanth Gowda, staged a protest near Lakshmi Vilas Bank at Shivarampet here yesterday.

The protesters alleged that the widening and development works of Vinoba Road taken up at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh under SFC (State Finance Commission) Grant was unscientific which was causing a lot of problems to the public as well as to motorists to park their vehicles.

They said that installation of kerb stones and laying of inter-locking tiles were causing problems to park vehicles and also movement of pedestrians and alleged that though a complaint was given to Zone-6 Commissioner about it, no action has been taken.

Pointing out that the works were going on in a snail’s pace, the protesters demanded the works be stopped immediately and thus, save taxpayers’ money. They urged that the works be taken up in such a way that it would not cause problems to motorists and pedestrians.

Former Mayor Pushpavalli, leaders M.C. Manju, J. Jnanesh, Gururaja Shetty, Hiregowda, R. Raju, Mahadev, Ramprasad, R.K. Ravi, H.J. Manjula, Mangala, Shantha and others took part in the protest.
