Residents unhappy with liquor shops on Alanahalli Ring Road

Sir,

I would like to bring to the notice of authorities the difficulty being faced by people living and travelling around Alanahalli region, particularly the Ring Road stretch between Devegowda Circle and T. Narasipur Circle (the distance between the Circles is just around a km or so).

There are at least 7 to 8 liquor shops with bar and restaurant facilities. Even though there is a law clearly banning liquor shops on highways, I wonder how the Government officials granted licences for liquor shops and bars on the Ring Road.

The liquor shops are bustling with customers drinking and then driving along the stretch. I sincerely request the respective authorities to take stock of the situation so that they can see the reality themselves.

People living around the area are from all ages — children, adults and senior citizens. It has become difficult to cross the road from Alanahalli towards residential areas during night as people are driving at crazy speeds after consuming alcohol.

Neither there are any Traffic Police checking for drunken driving nor any regulations, despite many accidents along this stretch of Ring Road due to drunken driving. Hapless people are left at the mercy of drunken drivers.

Once again I sincerely beg the officials to take necessary action to shift the liquor shops on the entire stretch, help to prevent road accidents and save people’s lives.
