Retired employees stage protest seeking higher EPF pension

Mysuru: Hundreds of retired employees under the banner of Karnataka State EPF Retired Employees Federation staged a day-long protest in front of PF Office in Gayathripuram in city yesterday (Feb.21) seeking a minimum EPF pension of Rs.7,500 among other benefits. Retired employees of KSRTC, BEML, Falcon Tyres and members of CITU, who assembled in front of the PF office at about 10 am, shouted slogans against the State Government.

Federation President S.P. Ningegowda, who spoke, said that lakhs of retired employees condemning the anti-labour policy of the Centre would be protesting by fasting from Feb. 21 to 26 at the Ramlila Grounds in New Delhi and to support them, the Federation was staging a protest in city.

He threatened on intensifying the stir if their demands were not met. Federation Hon. President M.K. Swamygowda, General Secretary R.G. Mohan Krishna, Joint Secretary Basavaraju, CITU Secretary Jayaram and others were present.]
