Retired Karnataka High Court Justice M.M. Farooq passes away

Bengaluru: Retired Karnataka High Court Justice M.M. Farooq passed away early yesterday morning in Bengaluru. He was 75.

He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and two sons.

Last rites were held at Muslim Burial Ground in Jayamahal, Bengaluru last evening, according to family sources.

Born on Aug.17, 1943, Justice Farooq had his initial education in Kasargod and obtained his Law degree at Renukacharya Law College in Bengaluru. He began his career as a lawyer in 1968 and served the judiciary for about 45 years and served as a junior advocate for retired Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde and retired Karnataka High Court Justice K. Jaganath Shetty.

He was appointed as the High Court Public Prosecutor in 1975 and took charge as the Karnataka High Court Justice on Dec.18, 1995.

Justice Farooq also served as the President of the Karnataka Judicial Academy till his retirement and was also the President of the Karnataka Appellate Tribunal.
