Mysore/Mysuru: The body of a retired teacher with his throat slit was found on the side of Devalapura Road in Varuna Police limits yesterday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Nagaraju (70), a retired teacher and a resident of Nanjangud town.
A native of Ummathur village, Nagaraju was residing at Nanjangud town. On Saturday, Nagaraju left the house saying that he was going to the farm land in the village. As he did not return even at night, his family members called his mobile phone which was not reachable and the family members had thought that he may have stayed in the village as it was raining.
But yesterday morning, the body of Nagaraju was found on the side of Devalapura Road.
He was found allegedly murdered with a rope tied around his neck and his neck slit open. Public, who saw the body, informed the Police and Varuna Sub-Inspector Chethan and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and future course of action was taken only after the family members confirmed that it was Nagaraju’s body.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Seema Latkar, Additional SP B.M. Nandini and Circle Inspector Purushotham also visited the spot. Based on the complaint from Nagaraju’s son, Varuna Police have registered a case. It is to be known whether Nagaraju had enmity with anyone or had any other issues, which even his family members are not aware, Sub-Inspector Chethan said and added that the Police have begun investigation in all angles.
