Rider killed as tipper hits scooter

Mysuru: A 50-year-old two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot when a tipper vehicle reportedly hit his electric scooter near Maharana Prathap Singh Circle on Lalitha Mahal Road early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Singh, a resident of Kalyangiri, who was running a provision and vegetable shop in the locality.

At about 7.30 am, Manjunath had gone to the wholesale vegetable market near Mall of Mysore on M.G. Road, where he purchased vegetables. He was returning home on his electric scooter (KA-09-KB-9795) when the accident occurred.

When he neared Maharana Prathap Singh Circle, a tipper (KA-09-C-9432) travelling alongside his scooter reportedly hit the two-wheeler. Manjunath fell onto the road and died on the spot.

Siddarthanagar Traffic Sub-Inspector Raju and staff rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem. Siddarthanagar Traffic Police have registered a case and investigating.
