Mysore/Mysuru: Ever since the lockdown was imposed, Sri Ramakrishna (RK) Ashram, Mysuru, has been distributing grocery kits to needy labourers and slum-dwellers, who had difficulty earning an income during the lockdown period.
Monks of the Ashram, together with devotees and other volunteers, have distributed Corona protection kits prepared by them since April first week to over 2,100 persons including Pourakarmikas, Police personnel, staff involved in water supply and medical staff across the city.
President of the Ashram, Swami Mukthidanandaji, has been feeding over 200 to 300 persons everyday and distributing grocery kits to poor people.
So far, 5,362 kg wheat flour, 2,681 kg sugar, 2,681 kg rava, 2681 kg toor dal, 400 kg roasted gram, 150 kg maida, 2,681 litres cooking oil, 2,681 kg salt, 670 kg tea powder, 2,442 kg fruits and vegetables, soaps, 225 kg jaggery, 510 kg rice, over 1,667 masks, 1,000 biscuit packets and other essentials have been distributed by the Ashram at Kumbarakoppal, Medar Block, Devaraja Mohalla, Manjunathapura, Dattagalli, Agrahara, Dhobi Ghat, Vidyaranyapuram, Gommatagiri, Tenkanamole of Chamarajanagar, Biligiriranga Hills and Helavaranche village in Hunsur taluk.
