Road safety rally to be taken out on Feb. 26

 In a bid to create awareness on increasing road accidents due to negligent riding and driving vehicles, ‘Yuvajanara Nadige Raste Surakshe Kadege’ (Youth’s walk towards road safety), a road safety rally will be taken out in city on Feb. 26. The rally will be flagged off at 6.30 am from the Oval Grounds.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, who is also the President of District Road  Safety Committee, held at his office here on Feb. 9.

The DC instructed the Transport Department officials and Police officials to prepare a list of identified ‘Accident Zones’ in the district, to find out the reasons for the mishaps and take measures to control it.

Discussions on road safety, riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets, driving cars without fastening seat belt and increase in the number of accidents involving two-wheelers were taken up at the meeting.

Superintendent of Police Ravi D. Channannavar, Transport Department officials C.T. Murthy and Prabhuswamy, Nehru Yuva Kendra Co-ordinator M.N. Nataraj, ZP CEO P. Shivashankar, Mysore University Physical Education Director (in-Charge) Dr. Krishnaiah, Joint Director of the Department of Collegiate Education Jayaprakash and officials from KSRTC, PWD and others attended the meeting.
