Mysuru: The Students of Sarada Vilas Law College protested against the College Management by climbing on top of the College roof alleging that they were not issued hall tickets to write the exams citing shortage of attendance.
They shouted slogans and charged that even though they had attended the classes, the College authorities are not allowing them to write the exams by denying them hall tickets.
Ashokapuram Police Inspector P.M. Siddaraju and his staff, on hearing about the issue, reached the spot, pacified the protesting students and brought them down. Later, a meeting was held between the Principal, students and staff of the college.
Meanwhile, the protest is likely to continue for the second day today. Speaking to Star of Mysore here this morning, the college authorities said that nearly 125 students had shortage of attendance and since there were so many of them, they found strength in the numbers and hence were agitating.
The College Management could not do anything as the rule clearly states that each student should have minimum 70 percent attendance.
It is the University which has withheld the hall tickets as most of them had 68%, 65% and even 50% attendance shortage and the Management has no role to play in this, said the source.
