Mysuru: Rotary Central Mysore, as part of its community service initiatives, donated cooking vessels to 52 Mahouts and Kavadis, recognising their dedicated service in caring for the majestic elephants that are an integral part of the world-famous Mysuru Dasara.
The Club’s project was partly sponsored by Rtn. Dr. Prathibha, who contributed Rs. 26,125 as part of her birthday celebration.
The cooking vessels were formally distributed to the Mahouts and Kavadis by Rtn. Vijayendra Srinivasan, President, Rotary Central Mysore, in the presence of RFO Yashma Machamma, Dr. Manjunath, Rtn. N. Sachidananda Murthy, Hon. Secretary and Rtn. K. Bhaskar Shetty, Community Service Director.
Speaking on the occasion, Rtn. Vijayendra appreciated the commitment and hard work of the Mahouts and Kavadis and said that Rotary Central was pleased to recognise these unsung contributors through a practical initiative that would be useful in their daily lives.
Rtn. Sowjanya Attavar and M.T. Yogesh Kumar, Senior Reporter, Star of Mysore, were instrumental in the successful execution of the project in coordination with the Forest Department and other officials concerned.
