Mysore/Mysuru: Rotary Mysore Midtown, Rotary Panchasheel, Rotary Central, Rotary Mysore, Rotary Ivory City, Rotary East, Rotary South-East, Rotary Brindavan, Rotary Ambari and Rotary Srigandha Clubs have together started a noble project of feeding the poor and downtrodden who are identified and placed at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road and CITB Choultry in Siddarthanagar.

This project is being undertaken in association with Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).

Speaking to SOM, Rtn. A.N. Aiyanna, President, Rotary Midtown, said “Feeding 500 people in a day consistently needs the will and concern towards society. It was a big challenge for the Clubs to contribute at this period as the Rotary year ends in June for all and mobilising resources is a herculean task. With the available resources, we started to feed the needy from last Monday and it’s now being done at both the shelter homes.”

Rotary also supports covid Warriors (team of doctors and staff) at Trauma Care Centre in PKTB premises and the warriors  at DC Office War Room, he said.

“Different breakfast is served at both the places and donors in the Clubs have come forward to give boiled eggs and water bottles at both these shelters,”  he added.

“MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag and staff are in touch with us and coordinating on daily basis. We also have the request to provide breakfast to Pourakarmikas and are working on providing food to them also,” Rtn. Aiyanna said adding that Rotary, as part of its service in this crisis hour, goes all out to reach the community in need.

Rotary Mysore Midtown has also extended support to People For Animals (PFA) by providing 20 food bags for cats and dogs. It also distributed sanitisers and masks to the staff members, added the Rotarian.
