On Jan.13, Rotary Ivory City Mysuru installed an Interact Club at Madapura Government Higher Secondary School, H.D. Kote, at a programme organised by Acting Head Mistress Nethravathi. The installation ceremony was presided over by Club President Rtn. S. Balachander.

Past President Rtn. V.N. Prasad installed Ravikumar as Interact Club President for 2020-21 and Manasa as Secretary of the newly-installed Club. Speaking on the occasion, Prasad emphasised the importance of instilling leadership qualities in the young minds of today to build a strong nation. He recalled the sacrifices of great personalities like Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and many such who were all educated in Government Schools but turned luminaries for the country.

A clarion call was made to the children to develop a sense of ‘Community Service’ in their formative age that helps in building stronger fabric of societal well-being.

Teacher Hema Malini was elected as the convener of the Club. Rotary Ivory City donated a study table for the School Library.

On the occasion, Ivory City also donated a ‘Sewing Machine’ to a widowed lady Manjula to enable her to earn livelihood. Past Assistant Governor Rtn. Sunil L. Baliga also spoke.
