Row over Nikhil’s nomination papers: EC registers case against videographer

Mandya:  In a twist to the row over the validity of the nomination papers of JD(S)-Congress coalition candidate from Mandya Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the Election Commission (EC) has filed a complaint against the videographer who videographed the filing of nominations, at the Mandya West Police Station.

Following allegations that the videographer may have edited the video of the filing of nomination papers, to suit a political party, the EC swung into action and lodged a complaint with the Police seeking investigation  into the charges.

Sumalatha Ambarish’s poll agent M.A. Madan Kumar had sought the video clipping of the filing of nominations by Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. But Sumalatha was allegedly given an edited video clip, following which Sumalatha moved the Election Commission.

Following the complaint, Mandya Election Observer Ranjith Kumar in a four-page letter written to Sumalatha’s poll agent Madan Kumar, said that a criminal case has been registered against the videographer at Mandya West Police Station, it is learnt.
