Rowdy-sheeter Nandan murder case: Mandya Police arrest five accused

Mandya: Mandya Police have succeeded in nabbing five persons accused in the murder of rowdy-sheeter Nandan S. Raj alias Nandan at Guthalu Colony Kalamma Temple premises here recently. The arrested are Chandan alias Chandan Kumar, Harshith Gowda alias Jonty, Kiran and Manoj alias Junglee, all residents of Basavanagudi in the town and Ajay Kumar alias Ajay of Maruthinagar.

Addressing a press conference at his office yesterday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shivaprakash Devaraj said that the accused during interrogation had confessed of murdering Nandan who had a fight with the accused over tying of birthday flexes and had also issued life threats to them.

One of the accused Ajay, who had sustained injuries while assaulting Nandan, had got himself admitted at a hospital in K.M. Doddi and later took a room on rent at Shivapura in Maddur, where the accused were taking shelter, the SP said and added that the team of Police, traced them and arrested them.

The SP also said that deceased Nandan was a rowdy-sheeter and was involved in murder cases at Chikamagalur and Mysuru districts. All the accused were the friends of Nandan. Chandan and Ajay too were rowdy-sheeters, the SP added.

Dy.SP Gangadharaswamy, Probationary Dy.SP Narasimha V. Tamradhwaj, Circle Inspector Manoj Kumar and SI Chandrashekar were present during the press meet.
