Woman leaves her vanity bag while alighting a train at Kadur Railway Station; RPF returns it

Mysuru: In a commendable display of honesty and swift action, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Western Railway, Mysuru Division, successfully recovered and returned a vanity bag containing gold ornaments and electronic items worth Rs. 1,49,465 to a woman passenger.

The incident occurred on May 21, 2025, when Teja, a resident of Kadur, accidentally left her bag behind while deboarding Train No. 16589 at Kadur Railway Station.

Acting promptly on a complaint received through the RailMadad platform, the RPF escort team on board the train conducted a thorough search and located the missing bag. It was subsequently handed over to the RPF Post at Davangere.

Following due verification, the bag, containing 15 grams of gold jewellery and two iPhone chargers, was returned to the rightful owner the next day, on May 22, 2025.

Senior Divisional Commissioner of RPF Mysuru J.R. Sam Prasanth lauded the efforts of his team under ‘Operation Amanat,’ an initiative focused on reuniting passengers with their lost belongings.

He highlighted that during the financial year 2024-25 alone, RPF personnel returned lost items on 197 occasions, with the total value of recovered property amounting to Rs. 52.62 lakh. Teja thanked the RPF for their integrity, dedication and swift response.
