Rs. 1 crore National Geographic documentary on Dasara mooted

Mysuru: A proposal to produce a documentary on this year’s Mysuru Dasara celebrations through the National Geographic Channel was discussed at the Dasara Executive Committee meeting held yesterday.

The documentary, estimated to cost Rs. 1 crore, including GST, is proposed to capture the highlights of the festival.

The traditional Kambala buffalo race will be held on Oct. 18 and 19 near VTU College grounds at Sathagalli.

A total of 159 junior and senior teams will participate in the event. Seating arrangements have been made for 8,000 spectators and the event will be conducted as per Government guidelines, Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Ukesh Kumar said.

This year’s Dasara Gold Card will carry specified timings to help reduce delays, District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah said.

Gold Card holders will also be allotted numbered seats, while the practice of issuing complimentary Gold Cards will be discontinued. The price of the Gold Card will remain unchanged from last year.

He said Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi had reviewed the functioning of all 18 Dasara sub-committees and preparations for the festival were progressing as planned.
