Sir,
The circulation of Rs. 10 coins is testing the patience of people. RBI guidelines state that there is no ban on coins but commercially it is not even accepted by Government/Private Banks, Railway Station, bus services or anyone.
When note ban was effected since November 2016, the banks could not provide required denominations in sufficient way and even disposed coins of Rs. 10 in plastic sealed covers like 100/200 numbers with year sealed 2016. After some WhatsApp message/posts, there’s a lot of confusion in the market. Even after media intervention and special programmes telecast on TV, there is not much acceptance from any government service sectors or market business people for give and take of coins.
Hence, I request the media to highlight the problem and help the general public in circulation of the coins held with everyone.
I also request our largest transport providers like Railways, KSRTC and BMTC to accept Rs. 10 coins from the commuters. The government should also issue strict orders in this regard and help the people.
