Mysuru: The State Government has announced Rs. 4 lakh subsidy to Pourakarmikas for construction of houses.
Declaring this while speaking to Star of Mysore yesterday, former City Mayor and former State Safai Karamchari Commission Chairman Narayana said hitherto, the Pourakarmikas were being paid Rs. 2 lakh subisdy. But now, the Government has issued an order hiking the subsidy to Rs. 4 lakh.
Noting that the State Cabinet in its meeting on May 4, 2016 had passed a resolution on regularising the service of 40,000 contract Pourakarmikas in the State by March 2017, Narayana alleged that the authorities were not keen on implementing the Government order.
He has written to the State Government seeking regularisation of contract Pourakarmikas by June 12, he said and warned of a State-wide agitation if the Cabinet resolution was not implemented. A meeting of Pourakarmika leaders from Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Mandya districts has been convened at the city’s Town Hall on Saturday (June 3) to discuss the issue, he added.
