‘RSS has no enemies; often misunderstood’

Mysuru, Oct. 26 – The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has never considered anyone its enemy, though many may have perceived the organisation as theirs, said senior RSS leader and India Foundation Chairman Dr. Ram Madhav. “We have never had any enemies in the past, and we still don’t,” he said.

“I have worked with the RSS for four decades and have realised that understanding the RSS is difficult — but misinterpreting it is very easy,” he added.

“Our aim was never to create a secretive institution. Dr. Hedgewar’s vision was clear — all activities should be carried out openly and transparently. Ironically, today, some opponents want the same openly functioning RSS branches to move into closed rooms and operate secretly.”

Responding to a question from the audience, Dr. Madhav said, “Every individual, every day, every moment must be patriotic. We must strive for a caste-free society and ensure that every person receives fundamental rights.”

Speak of RSS agenda for the coming years, he said that an initiative titled ‘Pancha Parivartana’ (Five Transformations) has begun aimed at promoting Indian values such as social harmony, family unity, environmental protection, swadeshi and self-reliance, and civic responsibility.
