RSS Worker Sharath Madiwala’s Murder: Prime accused arrested from city

Mysuru: The Dakshina Kannada Police, who are investigating the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madiwala on B.C. Road in the first week of July, have arrested the prime accuse Shariff from the city.

Shariff, a native of Mangaluru, had gone absconding after the murder. With Shariff’s arrest, the number of arrest made in the case has risen to nine. The Dakshina Kannada Police, with the help of the city’s Mandi Mohalla and Udayagiri Police, picked up Shariff from near Sathagalli Bus Depot, it is learnt.

Sharath was brutally assaulted by a group of miscreants on B.C. Road in Bantwal taluk on July 4. He succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Mangaluru on July 7. The murder resulted in violence at many parts of Dakshina Kannada district.

The Dakshina Kannada  Police, who are said to have camped in the city for the past three days, were closely monitoring the movements of Shariff by tracking mobile tower location with the help of local Mandi Mohalla and Udayagiri Police. The Police are said to have swooped on him when Shariff was standing near the Sathagalli Bus Stand. Soon after he was arrested, Shariff was taken to Mangaluru under tight security, where he will be produced before a Court. Shariff is likely to be brought back to Mysuru and Chamarajanagar, for further investigation it is learnt.

Meanwhile, Mangaluru Police, who had arrested Popular Front of India (PFI) Chamarajanagar President Khaleelullah Pasha over a week ago, in connection with  Sharath murder case, brought him to Chamarajanagar for the conduct of mahazar.

Soon after he was brought to Chamarajanagar, Khaleelullah was quizzed at the town Police Station, following which he was taken to his residence at Galipura Layout in Chamarajanagar, where the  mahazar  was conducted.

Chamarajanagar SP Dharmendra Kumar Meena, confirming that Mangaluru Police had brought Kahallelullah to Chamarajanagar, said that following the conduct of mahazar, Kaleelullah was taken back to Mangaluru.
